would it be out of line to bath a child? I only ask because this kid pooped every where. I put them down for a nap and when i went back in the room one kid had poo in her hair all over the crib. the odd thing was she still had clothes on. They were a mess to but it was nuts:eek: I cleaned her up with wipes but if it were my kid he would be in a tub.

Ummm...yeah...in this case I would give the child a quick bath or shower. I had it happen once where the child had an explosive poop that ran into his shoes (we were outside). I put him into the tub to take off his clothing and then gave him a quick shower with soapy warm water. I would definitely bath the child if it were in her hair! I would just tell the parents what happened after. It is unsanitary to have the child going around with traces of poop in her hair for the rest of the day...it can spread disease. On a normal basis I would not bath dck's, but in this kind of circumstance...it is needed!

LOL, yes. I only laugh because it has happened to me. It was completely quiet then suddenly i hear "uh oh" in the monitor. I thought I'd go up and check. Poo everywhere! I yanked him up and in the bath he went. Poor thing didn't know what hit him. I'm just glad I caught him before everyone else was up.

A tip for next time... make sure that one is wearing a diaper shirt to bed for a while.

In that scenario yes I have 'bathed' children ... I do not put a child in pooled water of an actual 'bath' in my home though cause IMO it is a liability for drowning specially when caring for multiple children alone if your attention gets torn for a second ~ however I have placed them in the bathtub and washed them with running water from the faucet to remove feces or vomit and than redressed them.

I had to a few times for the same reason that you posted. Ugh.

Agreed ~ when the need has a arose in a 'newbie' I have given a quick call to tell the client 'Sally diaper has not contained her efforts so I need to bath her so she can continue on with the day or if you are not comfortable with that I need you to come pick her up ASAP please'

Wouldn't you call the parents because of diarrhea? If it was more solid and just a squirting accident, I guess a bath would be in order. But my bathtub is upstairs and my daycare is on the main floor so it wouldn't be an option for me. I can't leave 4 children alone to go bathe one, so I would be calling somebody to come get the child and just clean them up the best I could. Yuck! Sorry you had this experience Jennifer!

I've bathed them before too. Also from poop explosions....I mean we cahnge their clothes, diapers, bathing suits....a bath is no different.

Ya IMO a poop explosion does not be necessarily equate to diarrhea and therefore needing to go home ...some kids while teething get large loose stools but just their normal one a day or sometimes the diaper shifts in sleep and misses the thing all together.
