I know this is very random, but I realized today that there are two smells I can not stand as a DCP. One is saliva (I have a constant drooler who I have to put a bib on everyday- and every day it is soaked by lunch) and the other is spit up. For some reason, poop doesn't bother me so much, but these two make me want to hurl.

Yup. We DCP's need to have the patience of Mother Theresa and a stomach and gag reflex made out of stone as we deal with poop, spit up, drool, snot and other my all time fave....Barf:ohmy:

Does Saliva have a smell?? I haven't noticed. Probably because the above smells are overpowering any saliva smells

I have one DCB that always smells of stale urine when I change his diaper. Even after I've cleaned him with a couple of wipes...

Other than that....I don't think my crew is any stinkier then the next batch of toddlers/preschoolers ;)

LOL! I was just saying this to a DCP this morning. Oddly I can deal with poop but I can NOT tolerate the baby I have (& months) constant spit up smell and I cannot stand the smell of a certain 2 yr old's drool. She is like a giant leaky faucet and has a wet ring around her shirt ALL day every day. Makes me gag just thinking about it.

Vomit is mine. I can take any other smell, but vomit makes my stomach flip flop. The last time my son got sick, he barfed right on our carpet, and I wretched while I was cleaning it up. The sweet thing was, he went and got the "sick bucket" I'd gotten him for emergencies and handed it to me and said "Here Mommy, just in case"

Ooooh, I know what you mean although I didn't think drool had a smell! For me it is not so much a smell, it is an action...I have a two year old who has a blocked tear duct and so his eye gets goopy and I have to clean it frequently. He will actually pick his eye and eat the goop! Ewwww! I don't know why, but even thinking about it really makes me want to gag :( Nose picking and eating is right in there as well :( Gag!

Jenn...that's cute!
Sunnydays...that is gross! It made me gag just reading it.

About the drool... I never would have thought it smells, but it has a something. It may just be from making the clothing wet, but I definitely get a whiff of it every once in a while and my stomach just churns.
The little girl I care for is 14 months, but her tongue is constantly hanging out and drool just pours from her mouth at times. I am actually a little worried as I think her tongue may be too large for her mouth. She constantly tongues her food while she is eating instead of chewing it. Her mom has some worries about the tongue always being out, I just told her to bring it up to her doctor.

Yup ... I still have a weak gag reflex for vomit and snot and poop that is loose / slimy runs a close second!!!
