Anyone know of a sled that can hold 3-5 small children safely...ie. with seatbelts so they can't climb out? I am really struggling right now and pretty frustrated! I have a six seater Bye Bye Buggy with upgraded fat tires....but my road is not well cleared of snow and it is nearly impossible to push it even if I make 4 kids walk leaving only the youngest 2 in it. I have to get my 4 year old down the street to his bus stop each morning and it has been hell this week! I have resorted to flagging the bus down at my driveway although he is not supposed to stop there...I don't know what else to do! I have called the bus company and they won't change his stop even though it is only a block difference and the bus comes past my house and there are no other kids at his stop. I have also contacted the city to see if they will clear the road better. Today I called my son's school to see if they can find someone I can pay to walk him either to the bus stop or to the school (it is really close)...they will get back to me but didn't sound optimistic. It feels totally unsafe to be on the road with the kids and the stroller as I can't cross the road quickly...the kids fall down...the stroller gets stuck etc. I have a sled in which I can fit 3 very small kids, but it doesn't have high sides or back so they end up all falling backwards and crying or climbing out when I stop. Any sled recommendations???

What about something like this ... wagon that turns into the sleigh? I have peers who than put the booster seats with the belts into the wagon to 'contain' the wee ones as needed?

Thanks so much! I'll be heading to Canadian Tire this weekend to check it out! Not sur ehow many kids it could hold though..it looks kind of small. I need it to hold three under 2 kids...

Ya ~ I have no clue how big it is ... I wish they would invent the 'hover craft' so that we could just hover the children over the various terrain we have to travel in Canada!

Princess Auto and this place where my wagon is from www.toywagons.com offer ski supports for their wagons but it isn't the big wagon like I have but should still fit at least three. You might have some success pulling two of them with only two in each one.

The old fashion sleds with the sides and backs would probably fit two per sled.

If you speak to the teacher of the oldest grade at your son's school they might be willing to ask in the classroom if anyone was interested to take the info home to their parents especially if you told the you would not speak to the student if they called unless you spoke to a parent first.

What is the stop just before your house as in how far the other way or the stop after your house. that would be the best place to find someone. There might be an older child that would walk the extra block to your house for a bit of money just to help put your son on the bus.

It would look weird but when the kids delivered flyers using one of the plastiv molded sleds they put rubbermaid boxes on them to hold the flyers. Could you rig up something similar using plastic or wooden bins - plastic would keep them dry and you could poke holes for belts or make them deep enough and stuffed in with blankets enough they can't stand.

I use to have the large Lil Hauler and

I did not realize they had SKI options for them ... they are an awesome investment cause they hold their value ~ I sold mine when we bought the van because well I drive anywhere the bigger kids cannot 'walk' now so did not need the wagon anymore cause when we walk I use the single stroller and the other 4 walk ~ best for my back!

They don't have the skis for the largest wagon which is too bad. It is the size down but still if the kids are small and you are only going to be out for short periods I would just stuff them all in and go. I have put 6 in my big wagon with three on each side so in the size down 2 on each side and one on the end should still work and being huddled in winter isn't so bad either.

Thanks Playfelt and Reggio! Lots of great ideas :) I will look at the sleds and see...I was hoping not to spend a lot of money as I already have invested in the Bye Bye Buggy and really thought it would work in the winter too with the big tires (it would if the city had cleared our streets properly...grrr!). I think I am going to try first to see if I can get action on the street being cleared and in the meantime keep flagging down the bus at our driveway. If it doesn't change in the next week i may have to invest in a sled of some type.

The Smitty's Lil Haulers look great, but I definitely don't want to invest in something like that at this point. I probably should have just bought a Runabout instead of my Bye Bye Buggy....oh well, live and learn!

Well, my problem has been solved for now :) After having submitted an online request for road maintenance to the city yesterday afternoon, first thing this morning the plow showed up and cleared our street! I am amazed with how quickly they responded and very very happy that I do not have to invest in another type of transportation for the kids! Yay!:D

Glad it go resolved for you ~ we had so much rain yesterday that all our snow is gone now and it is so nice outside today I have the heat off and the windows open ~ in the middle of a Canadian winter and yet my stepsister in California is complaining about frost and that she had to get out her Winter coat ~ the weather is very confused!
