I just googled and we had one in Canada in Oct. last year. I knew there was one but couldn't remember when it occured. Yay for the family who bought you a nice gift Mimi! I get little gifts at Christmas and one family brought me homemade cookies on my birthday this year but I'm not lucky enough to get more than that usually. I do miss the Mom who used to bring me a Timmie's tea every morning!

I have a family who brings me Timmies and Timbits at least once a week. And they have NO idea how much I appreciate that. They have just the most beautiful and loving daughter that I care for on a full-time basis.
My cousin, who just put her son in a home daycare, asked me what she should do for her provider and I told her to show her that you appreciate her by being flexible, understanding and supportive, but most of all and above else.........BRING THAT LADY A COFFEE........at least once a week LOL :p

There is some sort of caregiver appreciation day we used to celebrate in June in relation to our caregiver dinner - wonder if that is the one that is now in Oct or if there is something else in june still. I used to put up a poster to "celebrate" near the door so all parents could see and of course they would read it while I was gathering their child and bringing them to the door - whatever it takes to get kudos from the ones who won't do it without a prompt.
Oh yeah, that same Mom would occassionally bring me a green tea. It is these small kind gestures which I much prefer over having a "daycare providers day" where my clients feel they have to give something. Random acts of kindness mean sooo much.
