So my 1st interview from Sat went with someone else. She was clear that I was their first choice but they wanted the earlier start time as the other daycare opens at 7 am. Booo! I really liked them, oh well. I asked her to spread the word so hopefully I get some referrals from word of mouth.

That is too bad but at least you got positive feedback and that helps a lot too because we always wonder what we did wrong after an interview that made them choose someone else. Nice to know they liked everything they saw and that it was a semantic thing like time that was the problem.

It takes time but you will find the perfect families. For me it took 9 MONTHS to find families and still some did not need care until Jan. of this year so technically I had my families after 9 months but did not have the income of a full daycare for 12 months.

congratulations on not bending on your open times for a client. It's too easy when you start to just give in to get clients, but we all regret it in the end.

Just heard from interview #2 and they want a space for April 1st. They are only part-time though and I wasn't sure about this family. He is almost 2 though so he will fit in with my crew of just turned 3 y o's there appears to be a bit of a developmental delay though. He has never been in care before and he may flourish being around the other children.

The funny thing is, I know who they went with and she is charging significantly less then the norm and only going to take a couple kids. Don't know how that will be viable.

Great news that you filled your space and don't worry about things, tackle them as you get to them with the children.
