So i started a dcb ft this week and mom had asked me at pick up do we pay you stat hoildays i told her in the contract its says stats are paid. But i told her that because she had a horrible experince at the daycare before me its okay you dont. I get a call saying that my husband doesnt agree with paying stats if we dont get paid stats.
Do you guys charge for stats?

Yes I charge for stats as long as the child would regularly attend on that day. It's written in my contract. I haven't had a parent complain about it yet :)

I charge for stats, but not for the four weeks I close for my vacation. This is standard in my area, so parents don't tend to question it. In any case, it's in the contract they sign, so if they don't agree with it, they don't have to go with me. They can go elsewhere if they don't like my terms. I certainly wouldn't accept someone trying to change the terms of a signed contract after the fact. And if they had a bad experience elsewhere, I would be sympathetic, but I don't understand why I would have to subsidize that person's bad experience by contributing my own income to their family????

I charge for stats. If the child attends part-time then I only charge for it if it falls on a regularly scheduled daycare day. I've never had anyone question paying for stat holidays... it's very standard.

I do, too. Even when working for an agency you get paid for stats.

I also charge for every stat that the child would regularly attend daycare.

I have never had a complaint and I write it in my contract.

Just remind her that it was in the contract and she signed it and that you cannot change your contract.

If you let anything change on your contract then they think everything is negotiable.

I used to have a job where I didn't get paid for stats but my daycare contract stated that I owed fees for stats so I did pay and didn't complain because it was in the contract. People should really have respect to follow what they signed :(

Good luck. Stand firm

I don't get paid for stats, but thats by my own design.

I don't understand why you would take a cut because of an experiance with a previous provider. It's unfortunate that she had a bad experiance but what does that have to do with you.

Also, I would issue her a new contract stating she doesn't pay for stats if that's what you've chosen to do. You've told her one thing, but the contract states something different. It makes you look as if your contract is just for show and doesn't really mean anything.

I agree with apples and bananas about the contract and issuing her a new one. I do charge for stat holidays, and civic holidays. I've never had anyone question it either. It is a shame though that your are paying for someone else's bad service.

OMG stick to your guns... parents are so good at making us feel bad grrrr they play the pitty card and then when they are not happy the horns come out !!

I get paid everything !! last year I didnt and saw much a difference in my budget. It made no sense to suffer financially for them, as they would pay somewhere else. Plus I charge way less then my competition so they cant complain.

If I did have a parent complain (as one did last year when it came to my vacation), they were explained too when filling out the contract, it was discussed in detail and they agreed PLUS signed all the papers. So why are they acting as if they didnt know !!!

I am not sure I understand? Your contract says you charge for stats, but because of her previous dc experience (but not with you), you said they DON'T have to pay them? I am confused.
If you told her she doesn't pay for Stats, then I guess she doesn't.
But if it is in your contract, and you have not made some sort of special exception for this family, then enforce your agreed upon contract.
Most people get paid for Stats some how, some way. My husband doesn't, but that is because he is a business owner and that is part of life for us. I don't complain about it.

I get paid stats for the Full time kids. It's stated in my Hand book, and that's the way it is. If you start to make special rules for one parent....trust me word will get out and the other's will complain and not want to pay either. just be careful.

I don't charge for stats, just not done in my area. I don't charge for days when my services are not available.
If you contract says you charge, then you charge. I've had bad experiences with previous clients, that doesn't mean I charge my new clients more because of it. BUT, if you have told her she doesn't have to pay, then you should stand by your word. Have her sign a one year contract that is corrected to reflect the change. Next year have her renew her contract, but with stats paid. I don't like doing things differently for one family, if the other families found out they would be annoyed.
