View Full Version : Tripping over crawler...am I alone?

I've never had is problem before...but man my newest DCB, a crawler, is the worst for being my shadow. My back is killing me now after contorting myself quickly to avoid stepping on him as I turned around and he was suddenly beneath my feet...yet again. Sheesh! The other day I fell all the way down to the ground avoiding him...sore wrist. I guess I just need to be a little more cautious.

You are not alone! I have tripped many a time over crawlers and walkers alike...they seem always to be right behind you and when you try to turn..whamo! However, I have been lucky that only once did I actually fall...well actually I tripped over something else and fell landing on a toddler:blink: He was not hurt, but was scared and I felt terrible telling his mom about it in case there were any bruises later :( I have learned to turn around slowly and carefully each time and not to make any quick dashes for any reason...always scouting what is around me (kids, toys, etc) and it has improved...but I can't tell you the number of times I have bumped a little one with my behind when I turn around :laugh:

Heeeeheee, a bell would be an excellent idea. I have a 3 year old boy who follows me from the toyroom to the entrance hallway for dropoffs and pickups and he's right behind me when I least expect it so I run over him, argh!
My playroom is downstairs with a door to the garage. If I go into the garage for a moment I know I have to open the door very slowly saying "move back" as the entire troop will be waiting right behind the door waiting for me to come back in. I love little kids and doors, they have no concept of where to stand so a door can open without plopping them on their butts. LOL

That reminds me of when I would do drop-offs at preschool. The door opened to the outside and the kids would walk up the stairs and stand right where the door opened. One day my dcg almost went down the stairs when a mom opened the door really hard. Luckily I was right there to prevent that from happening.
