HELP!
Tomorrow I am starting an 11-month-old who still has morning naps and with some prior sleep training by parents will hopefully go down well for morning nap with a short routine. Also have 1YO and 3YO who do not have morning nap. Younger napper's room is in bedroom upstairs and play area is downstairs. What do I do with the 1YO and 3YO while putting the 11MO down? My best guess is have the 3YO chat/read with the 1YO who is in his playpen (hoping he doesn't mind the change in routine!). Any other options? TIA!

Maybe put on an educational DVD for the 3 year old while you are putting the baby down? Probably redundant, but I would make sure the room they are in is gated, so the 3 year old can't wander into the kitchen or out the door if putting the baby down takes a bit longer than expected. Good luck with this new little one, let us know how it works out!

When I have to run upstairs quickly (bathroom etc.); I place my under 2's in their booster seat (with tray locked in). This way, I know they are safe/contained & entertained (book/toy/puzzle in hand) for the minute I am gone. I also have a video monitor to watch the rest of the group. For me, I just cannot take the time (for the safety of the rest of the group) to rock/bottle/soothe a child to sleep at nap time, so I make sure @ interview time that the child is able to self soothe to sleep.

I agree with Dream....put the baby in a booster seat or an exersaucer with a toy or baby book and then take the other baby up for nap. When I have to take a child up, I literally only take about 2 minutes as I just put the child in the playpen and say goodnight and leave. You definitely cannot be rocking or soothing the baby to sleep. Good luck!

My girls sleep upstairs in their rooms while the rest sleep in the daycare in the bsmt. I do what the ladies above mention. My 3 yo's are fine to pick the books for their cots while I run the little one up and the almost 2 yo goes in his play pen until I come back. The baby just gets put in the crib and I say good night. She is used to the routine now. When nap time is over, I get my baby first and bring her down before getting the others up and out of their PNP/cots
