so one of my dcm walks in today after being on vacation and announces dcb is potty trained and wearing underwear today!

this boy has never shown any interest in potty here, will sit in dirty diaper until I change him...anytime I have ever asked him if he wants to sit on the potty he screams "NO! im not a big boy!" so suffice to say I was a little skeptical....

dcm knows my policy on pt, and brought pull ups also....hes been in the pull ups all day. has not asked me once to go potty. refuses to try. has just gone in his pull up.

yeah, he is really potty trained!

honestly, what are people thinking sometimes??

They are thinking "Wow, wouldn't it be nice if my daycare provider potty trained my kid for me." And then bringing him in underwear and hoping for the best! good for you for sticking to your policy!

That happened to me last year with a 2 1/2 year old boy who arrived in underwear one Monday morning and his Mom made the same announcement. I had the pullup out of the bag before the Mom was out the door and reminded her about my contract rules. They let him go without underwear all the time at home then tell me stories how he pees and poops himself at the grocery store and other similar places. Here we are about 8 months later and he's doing very well with toilet training but he's not going without containment here - I'd be cleaning up urine off my carpet and couch daily. No thanks!

Well, the day didn't go well....this dcb only comes to me 2x a week so consistency with the parents is key to making this work....I reminded mom again about policy and she said she would bring pull ups until he is communicating with me...I don't doubt this boy is showing some signs of being ready, but not ready enough for underwear on my doorstep Monday morning! lol

I have a DCM who brings her 16 month old in pull ups and asks me to put DCG on the toilet whenever she looks like she is pooping! This girl just learned to walk and I have never heard her say a single word...just grunts. If she can't ask to go and walk to the toilet herself..sorry. Wishful thinking for the mommy's.

I think that has happen to several of us. Parents wishing that their kid to be potty trained when they are not even ready... If they are very young I do not know what the rush is. Some think that their kids will look gifted if they get potty trained earlier. I had a very bright 2.5 yo boy (I think he had a very high IQ) that refused to potty. Her mom used to pushed him hard to do it. He only resisted it even more...

I have a family doing elimination communication. This child was apparently doing very well at home before her first birthday, and she has peed once on the potty here, but I just can't seem to figure out the communication part. They are great parents and bring lots of diapers, but I have no experience with this concept, and can't seem to get the timing right. She's now 15 months old, and she certainly does not give me any indication that she needs to go potty, sigh...

They are great parents and bring lots of diapers, but I have no experience with this concept, and can't seem to get the timing right. She's now 15 months old, and she certainly does not give me any indication that she needs to go potty, sigh...

There is no way I would do Elimination communication at daycare! Impossible! I don't have time to watch that one child for signs all day and rush him/her to the potty multiple times a day. I have a little 18 month old who has been peeing and pooping for his parents on the potty a fair amount and has done it a couple of times here...but he cannot remove his clothing, etc and I am not willing to commit to doing it for him every time (although I won't say no if he says he wants to pee on the potty). His parents don't push it...they are just going with the flow.
