I do not charge for days that I do not provide care due to family/own illness or appointments for self/family. If I provide care for just part of a day, then have an appointment in the morning or afternoon, creating a shorter day, what should I charge? I usually charge $40 full-day. Should I say something like $25 for under 6 hours (or something like that), or break my $40 9-hour day to an hourly rate, then charge for however many hours I provide care? Other options?

I usually have my appointments or my son's early in the morning. I open at 8AM and I'm usually back at 10 or 11 AM from the doctor's office. If the parent chooses not to bring the child I do not charge. If they drop them off when I'm back home (I call them on my way back) they pay the full fee. I usually remind them in advance by e-mail these 2 options.

My day is broken up into 0 to 4 hours and 4 to 10 hours. So if they are in my care longer than 4 hours they need to pay the full day rate.

For me it would depend if I was feeding them lunch or not. If lunch is included then the fee would be more.
