Parents That Are Teachers.... What To Do...

So I recently, had an interview with a mom that is a teacher. She really liked me and wants me to watch her girls. Which is great cause her girls seem nice and the oldest is around the same age as my son. And plus she is one if those parents who is ok with paying full fees for both of them when they are full time.

So what we have agreed on so far ( because she is just subbing right now, but hopes to be full time by September) is that she will pay me for two days a week for the girls every month at the beginning of the month and any other days that gets added on will then be tacked into next months payment. Fine with me.

My question is what do I do about the summer time?? She will have it off and I want to be fair.

So for 2 girls it's 1300/month when they are full time.
While they are just coming 2 days it is 512/mth.

I'm not sure how to go about charging??

For my other parents they pay half of what there fees would be for two weeks, when they take vacation.

Any advice is welcome!

I had two teacher families .... One in the past and one currently ... The one in the past paid full time (and brought him full time) year round .... The one I have currently pays full time from sept to June and then 3/days/week in the summer. Works great for me cause I have 3 of my own home in the summer so it gives me 2 days that are a little lighter

If I can find a child who only needs summer care, than the teacher family gets the summer off free. If I can't find a replacement, the teacher family can either send them or not. If they don't send them they pay my holiday fee, which is $200 less for the month ($10 less a day). A bit cheaper for them and a bit less work for me during the summer.

**In some cases, teachers can choose to get paid over the 12 months. So for some, their financial situation does not change over the summer so why should yours?

I have a teacher in my group. I charge $25 a day instead of $30 on days the kids are away on holidays (providing 1 month's notice was given) - and I just started give the reduction it used to be full rate no matter what. When it comes to Christmas break and spring break I usually only have my teacher's girl 1-2 days if at all. During summer I usually try to full the spot with someone else so she doesn't have to pay me at all. Most times I have found someone who is looking for full-time July and August only so it hasn't been an issue. We have agreed that if for some reason I cannot fill the spot that they will continue to pay like they normally would.

I would make sure and look after yourself in this situation. If you can accommodate them financially then fine otherwise they should be expected to pay just like everyone else. They are paying for the spot and the spot runs all year.
