Hey all,

how long to give for a child to transition? Let's call it part time. The girl I am transitioning is full time but missed a few days in the last 3 weeks due to a nasty cold. This is her 3rd week (16th day). I just don't know if I am having an unrealistic expectation.

I know that around one the kiddos are teething, so I have considered that, but ti feels like 1 step forward 7 steps back.

I really try not to carry new kiddos all the time as I believe it isn't beneficial to any of us in the long run.
Any words of wisdom?

What is she having problems with? Consistent crying?

Is the issue crying?

I don't carry babies around. I will comfort and sit close to a child who is new but I refuse to carry them around. I have a boy who is on his 5th week now. He has been crying off and on still. Today was good, he only cried the whole 40 minutes we were outside. Other than that he was good. He actually fell asleep without a peep today for the first day!!

Kids that are carried, rocked, coddled at home will have a lot tougher time transitioning.

i think it all depends on the child's personality, daycare123. i had a little girl who took about three months to transition and she was still what i would consider 'high needs' for the remainder of the time that she was under my care.
i am the same, i hold and cuddle the first few days but after that it's time for the child to integrate with the group and get into the swing of things.
is it naptime or all day?

It seems to be improving-mostly just for the first few hours now-so I guess that's something!

I don't think the fact that she started more as part-time helped....
