Hello all, I'm just now planning my easter craft (I know late huh?). I've been sick with the flu and totally out of it. I'm just now feeling better. But this leaves me with today and tomorrow :( anyone have cute easter crafts / activities for the kids? My group ranges from 12mths to 2.5 yo.

Thanks!

We have done a few pictures using stickers, Easter colours and foam Easter bunnies. I also bought these bunnie paper glasses from dollarama and they decorated them, they don't fit them tho, too big lol.

Today I'm going to bake some hard boiled eggs and while they are still warm they are going to colour them. I will hold the warm/hot egg for them though.

We made jello in egg moulds on Monday and will eat them today for snack. I may make some more hard boiled ones and dye them for tomorrow's lunch.

Oh and I forgot....we made some salt dough clay eggs that they are going to paint. They didn't bake that nice though

So I decided to do some of our easter things today and some tomorrow......we did the crayon eggs and painted the clay eggs this morning. They decorated their easter bags so I could put their treats in them and they decorated their paper baskets for tomorrows egg hunt. I have the hard boiled eggs dying now and will have those tomorrow. I forgot it's also pj day here tomorrow so it will be a relaxed day with a movie after the egg hunt.

If you have those plastic fillable eggs on hand, we painted with those, both by stamping them (only makes circles, but we did pastel colors and pretended it was eastery), and roll-painted (the marbles-in-the-box type). My sons also got some egg chalk last weekend that we're going to use on paper, amd I also am hoping to do some homemade crayons, though that may have to wait.

Cut out large egg shapes on heavy weight paper, help them stick strips of painter's tape or masking tape across it. Then they paint the paper - with brush, fingerpaint, whatever. After it is dry remove the tape, revealing the white that was covered by the tape. It will look like a decorated easter egg. Could also add stickers and stuff afterwards too. I can see this doable for a wide range of ages.

this website has the same idea, except they used wet chalk:

Thanks everyone! I have a new dcb that cries all day and unfortunately is affecting everyone :( I want to cry today. We tried to paint egg cut out and I tried to get her involved and she screamed the whole time. I will try another one tomorrow. Wish me luck!

I really like the blog Toddler Approved. Tons of craft, movement, and play ideas based around different themes and books. Lots of great Easter / Spring crafts on there.

We made Easter baskets already and tomorrow the Daycare Easter Bunny will fill it with a loot bag of candy at naptime. They are all bringing a cuddle bunny, we'll have an egg hunt, which they make me do over and over for hours and I'm going to serve as much of their non-heated food in little plastic eggs that I have to remember to wash with my dishes tonight. Oh yes, tomorrow we are also going to make bunny masks out of paper plates.

Okay, I'm feeling horrible...going to be a last minute craft today. Whew what a busy week! Construction paper, template, scissors, glue, cotton balls, googly eyes...done! Thank goodness for a well stocked craft cupboard for times like this! I admit it, I just don't enjoy the structured craft time...horrible! My children have constant access to crayons, paper, paint, glue, scissors...you name it.... I love to see them create a random...but the structured craft (ie. make this bunny); which parents love...I have a hard time:)

Dreamalittledream... I hear ya!! I am sorta the same. I only do "crafts" for holidays but art is a daily thing. Even the crafts I do with them aren't the most structured. They still get to choose a lot of it and choose how to use it. When I have sent home more structured crafts the parents usually doubt their child did it anyways LOL as I have always had a young crew. I have started to take pictures and video to send to the parents so I can say "YES, your little johnny/susie did make this!" hahaha

Happy Long Weekend everyone!!! Hoppy Easter to you and your families!
