You spend half the day saying "please don't use your friend as your personal Kleenex" without thinking it's a bizarre thing to say.

Anybody have any more?

Saying 'I am not a human kleenex!' The thing I'm saying the most lately is 'gentle hands!'

Things I constantly say..."use your words", "gentle hands please", " you know the rules", "5 mins until..."

When you have someone else's snot on your shirt....this is me right now but I just sat down and too lazy to go change lol

When you make sure everyone has a clean diaper and used the washroom before leaving the house but you forget to go yourself

You know your a childcare provider when

- you want to spend the weekend with your own children and nobody else's!
- your house is a mess and it is only 9am!
- you actually head to the toy department on purpose when at the store to see what kind of deals they have instead of avoiding it like the plague.

- hearing pee hit the toilet water makes you happy
- hearing the question "why?" makes you sigh with exhaustion
- have learned (most of the time) to use your neutral face as you listen to parents exclaim with excitement that their child is potty trained after only one success.
- you are used to not being asked "how you are feeling: when you feel and look like hell during drop offs
-you can sit on the floor and call out "I want a hug" and a bunch of lovely little people compete to get to you first
-you are accustomed to being last on your clients bill payment priorities.
-you feel guilty taking vacation time
-you are used to people thinking your career is less than
-you are used to people acknowledging that they could never do what we do
-you are proud of having built a business from the ground up
-you know your finances can take a sudden downturn/or upswing in a matter of days
-you are fluent in toddler speak and even translate for a dck's own parents haha
-you are proud of what you do!!!!

Mimi, it makes me sad that you have had parents like that! I hope your current group isn't like that!!

No worries 5LM, my current set of parents are for the most part great. After 8 years in this business you learn the signs during the interviews that will give you potential problems with clients. I love my job and my dck's it's just sometimes parents can be so clueless LOL

Yes, sometimes some of them can be!!

Some of the crazies are really good at hiding that during interviews though!! Haha

--When you hear a child screaming on weekends or evenings and you feel the need to place as much distance between you and that crying child as possible and as fast as possible. And you know what? It feels good to know it's not your problem that the child is having a meltdown :)

--Going to evening activities with smears of paint and mucus on your shirt and your hair full of fly aways.

--Not being able to resist a table full of books or toys because you always -need to see what the daycare might enjoy.

--Being on pinterest while you are in the washroom to look for craft ideas.

No matter how well you think you've vacuumed/swept the floor, the second you sit down, you see a lone Cheerio somewhere.

When you are in the grocery store and a child is misbehaving, you think to yourself, just let me have them for a couple of weeks.

Or at the weekend, when a child cries outside or on the TV, you jump up to swoop it out of it's crib before it wakes the others, and it's only when you are half way up the stairs, you remember you are home alone.

LOL, that lone cheerio always annoys me!!!

When I see a child misbehaving, I always think "I'm so glad my dck's aren't like that!" haha

-saying to the dckids "We don't push our friends", "lets all play nicely" and "use your words"
- other people's kids are comfortable with you and they all seem to hang around you at a get together.

You know you're a child care provider when... you no longer breath through your nose. Lol
