What does everyone do re: wet wonter gear? Today was pretty sloppy wet and everything got pretty soaked. I ask for back up's of mitts, hats, snowpants but I wonder if there is a way to dry them too. I don't want sandy/muddy winter clothes in my dryer of course.
Anyone ever use an electric mitt dryer?

I don't dry anything. This time of year we only go outside once so if it is wet then so be it. I always mention at pick up time that stuff is wet and parents need to dry it before they come back the next day.

A couple of these places around the house work great if you are out in the morning and need items dry for afternoon!

We only go out once a day in the winter so if they have wet stuff, it isn't a huge issue for me but there are times that I will throw the things in the dryer if they are soaking wet. I wouldn't want them to have to put on soaking wet stuff to go home. My dryer is in the basement where my dc is so it's not a big deal.
As a side note.....no snow here!!! Whoop whoop!!! lol

Really, it is full out winter here in Winnipeg. I'm jealous, though the kids like the snow. They roll from one end of the yard to the other in it! Lol

I take the wet hats and mitts and lay them over my floor vents to dry. The snow pants I just hang them up so they aren't soaking wet to go home

The reason I was looking into the electric ones was because my daycare is in the basement so the vents are in the ceiling. I didn't want to bring all their stuff upstairs at nap time, risk forgetting stuff etc. I think I'll just bring up the really wet stuff to dry and the other kids can use their second pair in the afternoon.
My kids love the snow too. Well mostly just eating it!

My poor group wanted to play in the snow so badly. My youngest daughter found the smallest patch of snow ever, and tried to grab it and throw it in the air. We want snow!

I turn all of the coats and snow pants inside out, and hang with over the door hangers. Then i have 4 mitt dryers that go over my vents, and there are two for mitts and 2 for boots.

We routinely go out in the mornings and only go out again in the afternoon if weather permits. Due to my staggered pick up times, we stay on the premises if we go out a second time but I'm located at the bottom of a hill so the garden can be pretty wet this time of year.
I don't have a dryer so that's not an option and I don't have forced air heated so no vents either. I bought a second clothes horse/dryer so tend to lay their clothes on that near the radiator.

There is a good amount of snow. You can still see bits of grass, but there are some small snow drifts and we had to shovel our sidewalk. The roads haven't been great, they are slippery in spots.

Where I am in Ontario I'm 20 mins from the U.S. border. It never fails to leave me gobsmacked how when my town gets 5 cm, 30-40 minutes away into the Greater Buffalo and Erie area get upwards of 100cm!! We are just right on the border of this snow belt region which typically starts in St Catharines/Welland and I couldn't be more thankful I'm not in it. -19 windchill this morning for November is brutal. Come on, seriously lol

As for drying daycare stuff, we always go out in the morning so when we come in I put everything I can on hangers and hang it in the basement and boots and hats and nuts go on dryer vents. Id need to buy half a dozen of those drying contraptions to make it useful. Kids rarely travel home in their snow pants from here anyway and if their boots were still wet they could wear their slippers/indoor shoes and be carried to the car. I think I'll probably get two this year with can tire money I have saved over the years but for my family and myself not the daycare. Boy do I know how to treat myself lolol

wow you guys go through a lot of extra work IMO. LOL I personally don't think it is my responsibility to dry their outerwear. We go outside, things get hung up when we come in and that is that. Parents have to ensure everything is dry to come back the next day.

My responsibility is that the kids aren't travelling home in wet clothing, that was the impression I got from the thread, not the following day and how we receive the children's outerwear. I would imagine it would go without saying that the parents would deal with the stuff at home so they came to daycare in dry clothing.

My families never put their kids ski pants on to go home so I guess it is never an issue for me. When it comes to just going to the warm car at the end of the day there really isn't a big deal if they go from my home to the warm vehicle without hats and mitts. Never had the inside of boots get soaking wet either as I would never let kids play in water, and if by chance their boots got wet inside then they would go home in wet boots. So for me I would never take it upon myself to dry anything of theirs. Just my opinion.

I think I'll get something to put mitts on to dry. The kids lockers are in my porch, so they'll never dry in there. I know the kids are getting into a warm car, but I would feel terrible if they went home with wet stuff on. What if the car breaks down or they get in a minor car accident? Then the poor kid is cold and all of a sudden they don't have a warm car anymore.

Second this! I don't know what I would do without this thing it's awesome for drying mitts!
As for everything else, it gets hung up and it dries when it dries. If it's really that wet outside and the snow has turned to slush we go for a walk and skip the backyard that day.

We do the school run twice a day, so if they come in wet from the morning school run or playing outside, it all goes in the dryer and the boots go on the vents so they're dry for the afternoon run. I figure, they're not just going to the car, they're going in the stroller or walking and are outside for a little while, and I'm not making them do that in wet clothes. The B/A school kids though, their stuff just gets hung up until pick-up, because they ARE going straight to a warm car and then home.

Last year i took our portable electric fireplace heater thingy and stuck it in the front hallway and lay the clothes on the floor in front of it to dry. this year i am making my hubby construct hooks for each kids and cubbies .
