I will be providing overnight care for one of my day home children for one night. It will be from noon on the first day until 7:30 pm the next day. This child is one of my full time children and the parents pay monthly. They would like to know how much I will charge for the overnight and I have no idea. Have any of you done this before? How much have you charged? We already have an agreement in place for after hours care, but I'm don't feel comfortable with charging an hourly rate while the child will just be sleeping.

I do overnight care for a single mom in my daycare monthly. I charge my daily rate for over night. And 10$/hr after 5 if it's just an evening. So if I were u. I would change my half day rate for day one starting at noon. Then my whole day rate for over night. Then day rate for day two then two and half hrs at 10$/hr ending in 2nd day. If that makes sense. Lol. . Just how I'd do it. :).

Charge for the awake hours plus a token fee for the sleep hours. Charge more if you don't want it to become a regular occurance! Did they let on as what they expect to pay? As a nanny I once worked the weekend with one 2yr old so the parents could get a weekend away. They tried to pay me the hourly fee. It was over $600. I refused and pretty much did what I mentioned above. It was a one time thing and I didn't mind losing my weekend. However if it was something that would be more frequent I would charge more as weekends are valuable and it isn't the same when you are working.

Thanks for your responses! My dc parents pay a flat monthly fee, they are not discounted for a late drop off (as the first day will be) as they are paying for their child's spot.
After reading your responses, I was thinking I would charge my before/after hours fee (which is also $10/hour) for when the child will be up and then my drop in rate for the overnight. Does that seem fair?
I'm open from 7 am to 5:30 pm. So it would be $10/hr from 5:30-8:30 pm when the child goes to bed, then drop in rate over night, then the child usually sleeps until 7 am, so that shouldn't be an issue, and then again $10/hr for the 5:30-7:30 pm on the second day.
