Hi,

Thank you for reading my post, but now I'm starting to get worried, last year was fine, but since November 2015 I haven't find my fourth DK currently I have 3 registered, but it's taking me so long to fill the fourth one I had a few calls in Jan but no one was interested I updated my daycare with nice colourful furniture, I'm wondering is it my fees? but I'm wondering how you guys are handling this months, in my area I have noticed two day cares have closed I don't know the reasons I wonder if it was due to low enrollments :( I have a new client for Sept 2016 should I worried? Or is just in my head and is normal this time of year maybe it picks up please advise? Thanks

This year very quiet here. I have one place open and normally January is flood of inquiry for care but not this year. Everyone else reporting same experience. I close at 4.30pm so that does hurt as lot parent still in work but not willing to change that close time. I see couple good quality parent making inquiries this week but they need care until 5.30pm so passed them on to other provider in my area who open later.

My fees is higher than average in this area but fee not seem be issue. Something will come, it always does.

It is slow. My spot has been open since before Christmas. Everyone interested wants part time or a summer start and I want full time now. Lol. Hang in there. Kids shall come!! :)

The way it has always been for me, is that when you are looking for a child to fill a spot, the daycare ocean is empty. When you finally fill your spot, thats when the emails and phone calls come in endlessly.

Yes, I had a spot sit open for 4 months in the Fall, and now that I'm full, they're begging for care!

This time of year can be very quiet and it is hard when it happen the first time , but I think I have got use to it or just know that it has been this way before and the spot was filled - like just now I am full but someone is leaving as Mom is Preg, so it is out of our control and we can just advertize and hope for the best

I was just thinking about enrolment. I'm not finding it quiet at all but there are very few good daycares in my town...what all of my interview families say... And also I'm noticing more and more families are questioning the longevity of their placement when people are only staying home with their own children...again feedback I'm getting from families. Even though I've just taken nearly a year off for Uni, families Ive spoken to seem to be really keen on experience and experienced providers in my area are hard to find. What has me growing increasingly frustrated is the amount of families I'm turning away because of the maximum two under two ratio, and the almost none existent enquiries for kids over 24 months. I've had 5 enquiries for my 1 spot that opens in May this week alone. One interviews tomorrow and another Monday. I'd be full right now if it wasn't for this Bill 10 nonsense. Hopefully things pick up soon in the slow areas!!

Thanks so much Van, I'm looking forward to it too. Doing my degree fully online and working will take good time management but I'll be glad not to have to penny pinch so much. I had two interviews today for my 1 available under two spot and they've both already got back to me to say they want to sign up. I was up front with them that two were interviewing for the same spot and that if they both wanted it I would let the family who gets the spot know on Monday. My criteria will be to see which family fits my style of parenting/caregiving and is the most ideal. It's not about favouriting but weighing up pro's and cons. I'm really annoyed though that two years ago I would have just taken them both and I feel like Bill 10 is robbing me of potential income.

I can see that Bill 10 is creating a lot of problems for parents of 1 year old going back to work and also for Care Providers in Ontario
