Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding closing early for one day. I have a doctors appointment with a specialist that took 6 months to book. I may have to close at 3 maybe 4 in the afternoon ( normally I am open until 6). Do you give discounts when you close early and if so how much? thank you:)

I don't give discounts if I have to close early.

I do not give discount for closing a few hours early. I would if I closed a whole day (I don't charge for my sick days and that would be similar).
Part of working from home is needing to close for appointments to take care of yourself.
Give notice as soon as you can. State that you did your best to get a time that meant closing early but allowed you to be open for the majority of the day.
Also, if it is not already there put it in your contract that early closures for appointments will not be refunded, that you do your best to get it as late as possibly so you do not have to close for a full day, but it is not possible to see specialists and doctors in the evening so parents do need to accommodate the occasional early closure.

No refunds. You have already done 2 snacks and lunch/art etc, so that's the main part of the day if you ask me. Maybe a small refund if it was a 1/2 day, but not when 3/4 of the day is over.

If I provide lunch than it's a full days rate, if I don't provide lunch it's a half day rate

If I close before lunch I give a discount and charge my half day rate. If I close after lunch and nap so a couple hrs early no discount as its still a full day.

My contract reads if I close before 1 I charge $20 for the day. If I close at 3 or later it is full day rate. I always close before or after nap time so from 1-3 is not a problem.
I have been giving discounts when I close for a half day as I hear it from one family if they are even one hour short (will be terming soon as we've had so many issues!).
I think with enough notice no refund needs be given if it's an hour or two.
With my new contracts I will be building sick days into my agreements too. I'm my own boss - time to enjoy it.
