I know it is posted on here somewhere but I just can't find it. I need someone to clarify what the law is in Ontario regarding the ages of the kids you have in your care (a non licensed home daycare). Is there a specific number allowed for certain ages (ie. 2 kids under 2 etc), or is it just that we are allowed 5 kids plus our own and the ages don't matter?
Thanks in advance.

In Ontario UNLicensed home daycare providers are not held to age ratios. The law states you may have up to five children PLUS your own at any time.

We would be considered "informal care" on that website.

Thank you. I thought so but wanted to be sure.

Yep, this is the whole reason I left licensed care to go out on my own. I had my ratio of under 3's but I had a second sibling from a family I loved coming back into care, the ministry wouldn't give me a dispensation so I said buh bye to licensed care.
I always found my own clients anyway - it's nice not to have to share my earnings to be judged by a home visitor.
