Another expense question - GST

Please bare with me while I'm trying to keep all my records in order for my first self-employed year!

When claiming expenses, do we omit the GST from our receipts or can that be claimed as well?

You claim the GST as in the total cost you paid for the item. Since daycare has no GST or HST for those of us in those provinces charged on the fees there is nothing effected by the amounts like there would be for other businesses that can recover GST paid. Therefore you claim the total amount you are charged and this applies to supplies, utilities, etc.
