Question about financial aid

Hello everyone I'm Chiyo. I'm in the process of moving to Markham and finishing my ece. I'm a personal trainer and interested in opening a daycare/ preschool in Markham.

I will start the process of getting licensed as well but I see the process can take up to a year.

In the meantime I understand the rules of unlicensed daycare and the amount and ages allowed in the home.

My question is with the daycare being a registered business's with a business licensed and the proper safety and inc can parents get childcare financial aid if the program is a home based centre?

Government support is only available through licensed daycare.
Business registration doesn't count.

Although there are legislation changes in the works to license home daycares, currently all home daycares are unlicensed in the province of Ontario. Any home daycare provider claiming to be licensed is telling porkies. They may be registered with an agency but the agency is licensed not the individual daycare providers. Hope this helps.....there is no financial aid to my knowledge...if you find out otherwise please do tell :)

From what I have read if a home doesn't have to be licensed then why do people get licensed only to pay and agency money that go to them self if they were not licensed?

Going through an agency makes your job easier. They deal with getting the children, collecting the payments, etc. It's sort of like choosing between running a home daycare business or working as a home daycare provider. I'm not going through an agency because running a business is what I've done for 35 years, so I don't need to pay someone else to do that. Being male, I could probably use the advantage of them getting me clients, but the way I see it, if a parent doesn't want a male caring for their children, it won't matter if I go direct or through them. I don't expect to have clients running in when I open, so I have backup part time sources of income until I get clients.

The first paragraph of the link reads:

So this is for daycare centers and agencies licensing process. Individual home daycare providers cannot have a license.

I was with an agency my first year and I did not find any value added for being with them and they took a very good percentage of my income.

I was always curious what percentage they took. I figured it had to be enough to make a difference.

Well i am not sure about all of them, but when i inquired to Family Day Care a few yrs ago, the parents pay the agency 42 dollars a day and the provider gets 27 dollars a day. I was told That overhead helps pay for office employees wages, courses/seminars for the providers, licencing, insurance etc
