Yes, my accountant said you can, but essentially it goes into
Increasing your % of the business use of home deduction. So I don’t think we will ever be properly compensated for time spent before/after work or on weekends.
What I do is add 1.5 hours per weekday to the business use of home calculation, which nowhere equals the amount I truly work, but that equates to an 11 hr workday for me, so
I don’t think I could add extra time on there without being flagged.
So basically it means your total claim of all the utilities and mortgage interest etc will be higher by a certain percentage. It’s not going to amount to a huge deduction.
