Angry WHY cant parents pay on time

I have this dck that ive had for two years now never had a issue with payment up until now. Dont the parents relize that we are working our butts of to watch thier child! A few months back i had to terminate a great dck all because they never paid on time or didnt pay enough. Why is it that thier are always at least one parent like this where they cant pay on time? IT makes me angry!

Do you have a late fee ? Maybe send them an email stating that fees are/were due on xxxxx and that after such date there will be a late fee of $xx per day and care will be suspended until fees are paid .

Sorry you are facing this Sweetness ... I agree with Crayola that if you do not already have a strong 'deterrent policy' in place for this behaviour it might be time to adopt one ... I know this sounds harsh but other people treat us how we ALLOW them to either directly or subconsciously ... if you do not want to chase payments do not allow clients to be late in payment by creating a consequence that will motivate them to not want to break that rule and then make sure that you send that clear message you MEAN what is in your policies by following through at the first sign of them not towing the line so to speak!

I never have issues with payment because post dated cheques are encouraged so clients are less likely to 'forget' and when I use the last one I remind them and it gives them a week to get me a new stack, a late for of $10 per day applies to any fees NOT received by Friday at noon for the upcoming week of care and I WILL charge that if you 'forget' in the morning and do not bring it to me by the end of business day on Friday, a $25 NSF charge plus reimbursement of any 'bank fee' I might be charged is passed on to any client who bounces a cheque AND chronic issues around payment will result in termination of this contract and loss of their security deposit are all clearly laid out in my contract will clients.

In my 6th year working from home and only had 1 client bounce a cheque and she came in before I even know with the fees in hand, the NSF fees in hand and a letter from the bank stating it was their error and please do not let it affect her credit or standing within the program ~ she was horrified it had happened ... and that is how one should act ... a cheque is a promise to pay and breaking that promise by allowing it to bounce on someone breaks the trust between those two parties!

I do have a late fee of 10/day if they are late. But sometimes they dont pay it. I dont want to terminate because i would lose a big chunk of income. Shes the one that pays the most.

And this is coming from a place of love but THIS is why you have payment problems ... intended or not you ALLOW them to treat you this way but not enforcing your policies and opening the door of 'desperation' to keep them regardless of how poorly they treat you and well some poeple in the world will just exploit that to their own benefit ... just like some of do not speed because it is the SAFE thing to do and others do not speed cause they are AFRAID of the fine and yet others speed cause they do not give a shit either way and speed until they get 'caught' and than they pay the fine and keep on speeding until next time they get caught ... can you imagine how many people on this world would speed if the government allowed you to NOT pay the fine?

The sad reality is that many human beings are only motivated to behave if there is a strong enough consequence TOO behave otherwise they just do whatever the heck they want without much or any thought to how it might affect others ... they lack empathy and shared values with the rest of the world!

Umm why don't they pay it? When they pay you the money you say "oh there is a late fee on top of that of $xxxx ".
Reggio is right ... they don't pay because you don't enforce your rules because you are afraid to lose them. So instead they disrespect you and you resent them... I'd rather lose them and respect myself ! Advertise and fill the space

A wise person once said these words to me when I was complaining about how someone was treating me. She said "we teach people how to treat us" I realized instead of complaining it was my responsibility to correct the situation by telling the person how I am to be treated.

My late fees are $10 per day for the first late payment
$20 for the second late payment and
termination for the third late payment

Because it isn't always about the money.

It's about respecting me and my policies.

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
