I do not charge for my vacation. For parents vacations I charge 1/2 price. If its a kid that is part time and different numbers if day I charge for the average number of days they attend per week. Many of my parents take their vacation when I take mine. Don't be bullied, its not fair that you lose income and save their spot.

I always explain to potential clients that my daycare is budgeted as follows ... the income I need to make after expenses for this to be a viable business divided by the five clients I am legally allowed to have!

Now how people set their FEES are based on many variables ... now the easiest way to do this math wise is to divide that required income from your child's space by the 52 weeks in a year for a nice even payment that is the SAME to budget for and you pay me for your space regardless of your attendance or me taking 10 days vacation, 10 Stat holidays and 10 personal/sick days

OR I can divided it by 46 weeks and you will pay a slightly higher fee most weeks but I would not be paid for the 10 stats days, the 10 vacation days or 10 personal days in the year so those weeks would be 'less' payment.

Or I can divided it by 38 weeks and you would pay an even HIGHER fee for a normal week but not pay me when I was closed or and in addition you could take 10 days off from care without 'paying me' provided that notice was given

However as you will note - at the end of the year you are still paying the SAME FEES so it is just easier and less fuss if we divide it by the 52 even payments

Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."
