Mostly I find the one year olds that are just mastering walking spend a lot of time just walking and considering the size of their legs and their stride - once around the kitchen is a lot further than it looks.

There are a lot of poems you can act out that have actions - especially things that have you "reaching high to touch the sky" or "crouching down to touch the ground".

I also have a shelf that runs the length of the playroom and toys are on it so the kids stand at the shelf to play and that is a way of exercising too as compared to sitting on the floor to play.

Watch as the little ones play and you will be amazed at how much they are actually moving. When they play blocks and build a tower, they reach down and pick up another block and then reach up to put it on the stack.

The key to using the balls with the little ones is to make sure the ball is almost taller than they are so that they can't end up laying on the top of it and going over on their head. We balance on the balls only with my help.

I have some of those foam squares that are a foot ie the smaller ones. If you put those into a row and change directions so it goes around they will walk on them sort of like an early version of walking on a balance beam because they sometimes even have trouble staying on the 12 inch wide version.

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
