Ditto that...I have had two families tell me that I can use photos of their kids, but I never have. I feel more comfortable posting my own kids.

I think people take internet safety far too seriously, and most times it's without warrant. Kiddie porn rings and child abductions are not at all common. Your child has a 600% greater chance of dying in a car crash than being abducted, but most of us travel by car on a regular basis.

Don't get me wrong - I monitor my 12 yo daughter's computer time. She is not allowed to chat with anyone she doesn't know in real life, and she is not allowed to accept requests of any kind unless I approve them. But there is a difference between that and having her picture on the worldwide web, in my opinion. I also understand that there are sickos who would look at a child's photo for unsavory purposes, but again, they can do that walking by a schoolyard.

Then again, I am that woman who believes in "free range" children. My 7,9 and 12 yo are allowed to play outside on their own (GASP), and we live in downtown Toronto. I think fear has deeply taken root in 21st century Canada. It's a shame.

Think I mighta gone off on a rant here...lol

I agree with you Alpha that there probably isn't any danger, but I was approached in the park last fall by the local newspaper and actually told them they couldn't take a picture of the children. I didn't have the parents permission for that, only for me to use them on my website and ads. So I amended my permission forms so that the next time somebody wants to take a picture of the children for a newspaper, and we have several in our city, I can say yes. I'm just a 'safety first' person and want to make sure everything I do at the daycare is legal and above board.

I would deffo ALWAYS have permission from other parents. I can't imagine someone taking that liberty with my children, even though I don't hesitate to share their photos online myself. For sure!
