Today is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Even yesterday we had a thin layer of snow so we did coloured bubbles and watched them leave polka dots all over the white snow, but today it went up to 12 degrees and we were all outside with no hats and mits! It was lovely and it's amazing how it lifts everyone's spirits!

It's Bubble blowing season! Glad I bought all those sets from oriental trading. dumped about four of them before they got the hang of it.

For bubbles last year I got the sword things from walmart and love them. You just take the handle out and wave it and it makes lots of bubbles and some pretty big ones too. I just kept refilling the wands all summer and grabbed some extra at the end of the year so even if I only fill one for me to hold each child can have their own handle to keep coming back for more.

    Yes agreed these are awesome!

We spent 3 hours outside this morning and almost 2 this afternoon - I am SO ready for the return of weather that allows me entire program to be outside cause they eat, sleep and play so much better in the fresh air and sunshine!
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."

We too enjoyed the nice weather! It was great...they ran around and I saw the built-up energy explode! LOL They didn't stay long though, everyone is tail-ending colds and with them all being 2/3yrs olds I didn't want to push it. Over an hour for sure though....

No outside time here hardly ever. My parents forget on purpose not sure what all the excuses are as I don't even ask anymore to bring proper clothing. No snowpants, sometimes no hats or mitts. I used to make up for the loss now I no longer bother. I have a great set of parents that just do not value outside time. Once the snow and mud is gone it won't matter we can just go but till then not everyone on every day. My daughter works half days nearby and often comes over at lunchtime and will take out anyone with proper clothes. Even telling parents or a child complaining they didn't get to go outside doesn't seem to change the parents' behaviour. Another reason I am looking forward to a change over of kids this summer. Maybe I can train the new set to listen when I say we need snowpants to play in the snow.

That's weird! I have some parents who are definitely not outdoors people and I can tell that the kids never go outside at home, but they all pack the proper clothing as requested. Sometimes I feel that their choices in clothing is lacking in common sense (ie. not warm enough, or mittens with no strings, hats with no ties, etc), but at least they have the minimum so we can go outside. We try to go out every day, but average 3-4 days a week in winter as some days are too cold, icy, whatever. I have three 12 month olds who hated outside time at the beginning of winter, but 2 out of 3 of them have warmed up to it...one of them loves it...he actually crawls around in the snow happily). I wish I could enjoy the warmer weather this week, but I am so sick I have had to close the daycare for 3 days I can't wait for summer when we are outside all the time and we don't get sick!

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
