LOL - this is so true - I used to have about 40 resources books for programming from science to outdoors to circle and so forth - my favorite back than was the Big Book of Everything however they took up valuable real estate in the home so I pruned back on most of them cause my man gets pissy with how much space the 'daycare' takes up sometimes ... this is why I love PINTEREST cause I just goggled, found blogs and pinned all my favorite things to do on there for reference!

I still have these three though cause they are my favs ... actually I love any thing written by Deb and Marge but these are my two favs

Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."

I do have a lot of resource books gathered over the years starting with my teaching days and the thing I find the most is that even the ones that say early childhood on them are geared to kids at least age 3 meaning meant for JK/SK but kids in the preschool year can tag along and do most of the stuff. Anything for toddlers seems to take it back to playing peekaboo type games and while yes the up to 18 months enjoy this there is a lot less for the 18 m - 30 month olds which for many of us is the bulk of the clientele we are teaching. Without older kids in care to teach while the little ones tag along it is harder to keep them engaged in the "academics" that many parents expect since they see early childhood kids should..... sites and assume that means their child since they aren't babies.

Whatever my theme of the week I just google for it, eg. this week - insect crafts for toddlers, insect songs for toddler, insect games for toddlers. I have a 3 ring binder where I make tons of notes and draw pics of the crafts every year so I don't repeat the crafts year after year and mix them up.

But I know a wonderful lady who is a genius at finding things on pinterest and she shares with us almost daily. I'm not on facebook so don't go on pinterest either but if you do then it will definitely help you tremendously I'm sure.
