I think you misread my post hon ... at the end when I said 'and most of us do not want to do that' I did not mean most of us do not want to register our business name I meant most providers do not want to advertize by their full legal name ... cause that is just too much personal info for stalkers to have out online ~ even my Facebook account does not have my full legal name on it

What I meant was that in Ontario the Business Name Act requires a business to either 'advertize by your full legal name' OR 'register a business name' that you want to advertize by .... most every provider I know has a 'cute name' for their daycare such as 'Sally Six & under Sanctuary' or 'Kelly's Kindercorner' or whatever so while it may have a portion of their 'name' in it my guess that is NOT the persons full legal name unless they are really dedicated to their job ... so if they live in Ontario technically they are required to 'register' that name with Service Ontario

IMO there is no CON to registering your business name ... it costs less than a $1 a month and you can write it off as an expense, IMO it shows clients one more way you are a professional dedicated business person being able to 'show' that in an interview and finally it ensure you never have to supply a client with your SIN as per Canada Revenue tax laws for home childcare providers because you will have a BIN to provide instead which is an investment in your personal identity NOT being stolen because some client dropped their tax receipt in the street and an unsavory bloke picked it up
