I've Started Planning my FREAKIN' WEDDING!!!!!
Once we finally set the date . . . . . we only gave ourselves ten months to plan . . . go figure.
Anyone have any money saving tips? Secrets to not pulling your hair out? Great ideas to make it a FUN party instead of dreading hours of speeches?

I have a big ole congratulations for you
I have no advice - we chose to buy a house instead of spend money on a wedding so we live in sin and probably always will
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."

Starting to feel at home...
Congratulations. We got married in the evenning and then had a cocktail party immediately after in the same location. With dancing after the cocktail reception. Saved money on the venue then saved a bit by not serving a full meal, just hors deuves then cake and coffee later in the evenning. Have fun!

That's plenty of time. We planned ours in 3 months as when we started planning all the families started fighting so we said screw it and instead of waiting the year got married 3 months later. Way less stress, no drama from family and way less fighting!!! lol
My only advice is that when things start to get crazy remember why you guys are getting married. Don't let the drama of others get to you!

Expansive...
CONGRATS!!!!!
Depends on what you want...do you want the big everything?! Or are you keeping it simple?
We saved on:
-finding a venue that we could take our pictures at, and they included: our meal, everything needed for dinner - chairs, tables, linens, cutlery, etc.
-not having a limo and getting nice rental cars
-making our own bouquets - with fake flowers (bought at Michael's with 40% off coupons)
-again from Michael's, using coupons...bought the invitations and did them ourselves
-no videographer (sp)
One thing to splurge on is finding an amazing photographer. It's well worth the money - believe me, cause we didn't....
PM me if you have any questions, or need help! I love planning our wedding. Everything was done a month prior to our wedding so that I wouldn't stress.

Starting to feel at home...
Yah.....soooo exciting! As play and learn says, everything depends on what you are after! Fancy over the top princess? Intimate family gathering? Backyard BBQ? We had an outdoor ceremony and an elegant lunch reception for 45 at a historic inn. We are both fairly old (ha ha) and our daughter was 5 months at the time and we really didn't want to spend our life savings. It was simple but very romantic and we paid cash so have no 'after party' regret! My best advice is to make it all about the 2 of you and let any unwanted opinions slide off your back! I live in the GTA too and got married less than 2 years ago so feel free to pm if you want to know anything that we did.

One piece of advice - it's YOUR wedding. Do it as you'd like it, not for others' expectations. If you don't want a zillion speeches, leave a video camera out for people to record, and for you to watch later. We spend 5k on our wedding total, including the dinner, reception hall, dress and tux. It's easy - just don't be extravagant. Look on pinterest for very cool ideas for decorating etc.
Congrats!
