Ouch - that SUCKS for sure - it is amazing how fragile the human body can be considering how strong it must also be!
But to answer your question ... Yup - more than once
I had my earring ripped out when I was a newbie ... and literally ripped out as in tore the hole completely open the earring hoop stated intact.
Sliced the back of my neck with a necklace that a infant attempted to rip off.
Had to have a ring cut off my finger after a child tripped over my hand and bent the finger back and broke the finger .... after that 3rd strike I no longer wear jewellery to work!
Tripped over a toy someone threw into my path and tore the cartridge in my ankle.
Black eye from a thrown toy - bruised the nose but not quite broken.
Scratched cornea for a child who would not sit down on the top of slide and decided to flail their hands around in protest to my reaching up and helping.
Also been bitten - and left a teeth mark bruise.
Herniated my L5S1 disc when the stroller attempted to tip in a sink hole in the road and I had to grab it and right it.
Currently have an infant who pinches and leaves little bruises on me ... and in the 5 years of working from home that has been my 'worst' injury ... home daycare is WAY more calm and therefore safe IME ... either that or I have learned to be a better accident preventor in my old age
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."
Wow Reggio!! You take the cake, lol I hope this is my only chance to experience this type of injury
Well I have been doing this since 1988 so that's been spread out over eons

occupational hazards for sure. I've had a couple black eyes from toys being tossed at me in tantrums. A split lip from a little one who I had to give puffers too, she decided to head butt me. Thankfully, nothing as bad as Reggio has gone through. I have to say that these injuries are NOTHING compared to the ones I received while working in the classroom with grade 8's. Had my wrist fractured by one student and my hand sliced open by another...
Reggio, that's terrible, poor you!!! Sam are you ok?
My babies just share all their germs with me. I've had minor bruises but nothing I don't do to myself. I'm always bumping into things and giving myself bruises so I can't tell the difference if it was from one of the children.
If you visited or if you're using a childcare provider found on DaycareBear, do not hesitate to leave a review. This will most certainly help other parents!
