I agree when painting t-shirts you want something 'between' the two layers of shirt ... I made that mistake once and the paint soaked through into the other side on me
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."

Thanks for the tips! The shirts are by no means perfect...but adorable. I used the "hands down" & "walk all over dad" ones. Will save "choo choo massage shirt" for next year.
    Children are great imitators.
So give them something great to imitate.

I got the wooden chests too and the kids painted them and glued plastic jewels on and then today we made Dad's cookies and we are going to put them in the chests

A couple of years ago I had the Moms provide white tshirts and we put handprints on the front with fabric paint and I wrote #1 Dad Hands Down. Then we put the children's footprints on the back and I wrote 'Dad lets me walk all over him.' Those were a huge hit.
