Is six hours of care a full day?

Would you charge a full day's rate for 6 hrs? I know I do.

What if it was from noon til 6? With 2+ hours of nap time, is it still a full day's work?

Interested in your opinions.

Yes it is fulltime. I have charged less when I had a child come only for the morning when I had a b/a school child fil in the rest of the spot. Since they would be there until six I would charge the full rate.

anything over 4 hours is a full day at my daycare...doesn't matter what time of day to me. They pay full price for 4 hours and 1 minute lol.

For me my full time rate is $35.00 my 1/2 day rate based on 4hrs is $20.00 anything after is $5.00 an hour. So 6 hours in my daycare would be $20.00 + $5.00 + $5.00= $30.00. It's pretty close and if they go over the 7 hours it becomes more expensive than my full time rate, which is based on an 8-hour day.

Anything over five hours is a full day, anything under is paid per hour (I made it so that if they're paying per hour I get VERY close to the same rate as if they were full time). My full time rate is $43 a day. If they are there for 4 hours, it's $40. Part time is a minimum of three hours a day and three days a week - paid per hour. Anything over five hours is considered full time and they owe $43 a day

I don't offer part time so regardless of the hours a little one spends in my care, that is a full time spot they are filling and have to pay.
I agree with Michelle that a full day would be anything over 4 hrs if you do offer part time.

Ya - a half day in my program is specifically 7:30 - 11:30 or 8:30 - 12:30 and costs almost as much as a full day - I would not enroll a client who came only for the afternoon as it is too hard on them and the program to come into the program each lunch and REST.

I prefer full day clients for the consistency in income and flexibility in my program to not be tied to a 'clock' in the middle of the day and set my fees accordingly to discourage people contacting me wanting part time

My contract says anything over 5 hours is full time .... I have half days and part time on my contract but somehow I never have an opening for that ... Wink wink. I only like/want/encourage full time.

If it was a young child I would also worry that the parents would let them have a very long nap in the morning and I wouldn't get my break in the afternoon. I f it's an older child who is going to sit and watch movies during nap time then may be more inclined to give a slight discount.
