    Where to get smocks?

Do you use smocks for painting and other messy activities? Or is there something else I could use? I haven't seen smocks anywhere! Are they machine washable or do you just wipe them down and let them dry?

I got mine from Toys R Us. You just wipe them off. I have also seen them on amazon.ca, Walmart, and Zellers.

Are you near an Ikea? If so, these are 2 for $5...and are awesome! All of mine still look & function like brand new after a year of use 3+ times a day. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70179754/
    Children are great imitators.
So give them something great to imitate.

I got mine at All About Kids in Ottawa. They are machine washable, but I don't wash them every time, just when they get really messy. They were a bit more expensive, but work well and are comfortable to wear.

I used some of my husbands old work shirts (that he obviously doesn't need anymore). They work fine (worn backwards, of course), are machine washable (but like Kangaroomama I don't wash mine till they're really dirty) & I didn't have to pay for them. Just a suggestion.

Having one of your dad's short sleeved shirts to take to kindergarten for painting was the norm when I started back in the early 60's.
