    Naps... how long?

Is it wrong that it's after 3pm and everyone's still sleeping?

I'm a strong believer in letting sleeping babies sleep. How long do you let your kids nap? When do you wake them up? And... what do you tell the parents?

Nope nothing wrong with that ... something in the air today cause all mine are still sleeping as well even the 6 year old whose fighting a cold at the moment and normally just 'rests' for her hour is out like a light ... I will turn off the quiet music shortly and start to make noise cause at 3:30 I need to get them moving onto snack before they start going home
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."

I have a child who sleeps 2 hours pretty much to the minute. She's a little screamer and wakes up happy, but loud. So she wakes everyone else but they are all fine and I think 2 hours is lots of sleep. I only have one little boy who can sleep through the noise but he's new here and will have to adjust because they all sleep in one room and there really isn't any other option.

I pretty much let the children sleep as long as they need to. If they are still sleeping around 3pm, I may wake them as they have been sleeping for 3 hours, and I think that is more than enough. I generally tell the parents how long the children slept for, but I have one parent who only wants their child to sleep for one hour, so I never tell them how long their child slept for.

Mine sleep about an hour and a half, sometimes an hour, sometimes two. But as soon as one of them is up and making noise, they're all up! I would love it if they slept longer LOL. Parents always ask how long they slept and I tell them.

My crew goes down at 1:00pm and they all usually nap till at least 3:00pm. I usually start opening blinds and making noise if they are not up by 3:30pm. I give a daily report which includes how long each child slept. Only had one mom in the past ask that her daughter not nap at all as it interferes with her downtime with her boyfriend in the evening Yeah. Sorry lady. Then I'm the wrong daycare for you. She dropped that request pretty quickly. She must have seen my expression

Everyone took longer than normal naps today here too! Even I had a 30min snooze (I had my cell alarm to wake me up). We were pooped!

I don't wake them up from naps unless it's been more than 2.5hrs closer to 3hrs, I think its enough at that point...but never earlier! I have one who's parents have asked dcg to only nap for 30min...well when she's here she naps for the full time and I have to shake her awake, she'd sleep for 4+ hours!

When mom asks me I say "yup...30 mins" then I ask how she slept at night the next morning and "oh she gave us no problems, I knew she didn't need naps anymore" RIIIIIIIGHT <eyeroll>

I wake them up if they are still sleeping at 3:30 (they go down beteen 12:30 and 1) as I find I need that timet o give them snack and take them outside to play before pick-up. I almost always have to wake someone up as I have some very good sleepers. I tell parents if their child's sleep was less or more than usual, but leave out exact times in general. However, they do know that I wake them up by 3:30 if they are still sleeping. If they do sleep past this time (rarely it happens that they went to sleep late and I want to let them sleep...usually on a Friday) then I do tell parents so they know not to push an early bedtime.
