Messes and cleanliness

I could have written this myself! I do a quick sweep of crumbs after every meal and wash my floor everyday after DCK leave. I just try and stay on top of it but it never stays that way lol.

BTW my man use to 'complain' about the odd thing left out or getting a piece of rice stuck to his sock in the kitchen and than about 4 months into daycare he covered for me while I slipped out to the Dr at quiet time ~ all he had to do was watch them sleep, let em watch some TV as they woke for a treat instead of 'quiet time' so there was no mess of that for him and change 1 diaper cause the rest are trained and than when they were all up feed them snack and take them outside ~ I picked an 'easy snack' of homemade cookies and bananas had everything prepped for snack so he had to place it out for them and clean up afterward.... when I got home the empty snack cups and plates were still on the kids table along with their wash clothes ~ he had not even rinsed them or wiped down the table and chairs plus there was oatmeal cookie crumbs and pieces of 'banana hair' that the bananas get sometimes all over the kitchen floor and spilled cup of milk under the table .... the bathroom was a disaster with soap and water all over cause he must not have been 'listening' properly while the kids were up there and they got to playing instead of peeing and washing quickly like they know they are suppose to ~ needless to say after THAT day he had a lot more appreciate for how organized I am and how much goes into him being able to come home to a 'tidy house' at the end of the day not to mention how easy it was to miss a piece of sticky rice on the floor on the odd occasion

Sadly I think I must make it look to easy because the longer I have been home the less he seems to think he needs to 'help' with the house

I have a tub in the kitchen that I rinse off dishes as the kids are done with them and then at nap time- like now I just put them in the dishwasher. I do most of my prep work the night before in the fridge and prepare the night before.
I don't find my kitchen messy doing this...as for the floor. I have a hand vac and I keep out for quick pick up after snack and lunch-best investment!

Yes I invested in the Ergorapido Elextrolux my first year for 'sweeping' up the kitchen ~ it is cordless 2 in one vacuum so it takes 1 minute to do my whole kitchen floor and best thing is no BENDING cause it sucks up the crumbs and I just pop it back in the charging stand and done!

Here is more info about the Enjo floor cleaning system ~ there is a video to show how it works ~ again love it cause no bending you can attach and change the 'clothes' without bending down on the floor to do it and no chemicals at ALL just water to clean the 'fibers' in the cloth do the rest and you can mop and dry behind and the kids can be on that floor again right away with no risk of getting 'Mop and Glo' or anything on their hands!

What's the price point on this? I have a carpeted dining room and can't afford to change the flooring so something quick and easy for after meal clean up sounds amazing!

I got mine at Costco it is $89 currently ~ I paid $69 cause I got it when they had a $20 off coupon in my membership magazine cause I had been 'saving' for it and figured that was a deal! Most of our floors are hardwood though ~ I am not sure how great it is on carpet cause the only carpet I use it on is the little rugs in the bathroom and the playroom?

I vacuum the main floor every other day and mop the floors weekly (unless something spilled etc.) Its harder on me because I have a 2.5yr old myself who I'm not going to send to the basement to play each night LOL so we have some toys in the living room and she makes a mess after dinner etc. It's hard to keep up.....

It would be MUCH easier if all little ones left for the day and the house stayed as you left it....nope, not here

My dckids know that they are only allowed to eat and drink in the dining room. I line up their drinks all summer on the table and they know they have to go out there, sit down and drink carefully with no spills. That way they can drink whenever they are thirsty. I have an area rug under the dining room table so I'm picky. No food or drink anywhere else unless it's outside.

I don't serve soups or stews to the children and I don't think they are deprived at all, because their parents can give them soup if they want. I rarely serve anything that will spill, like applesauce. Also, I watch them like hawks when we are painting, gluing or even playing with playdo.

We have lots of messy play outside, but I don't think there's anything wrong with teaching children to be as neat as possible inside the house. However, I have some great pictures of birthday celebrations with faces covered with icing, there are always exceptions.

The probelm for me, it seems, but is also a blessing is that I have two dogs. They pretty mcuh spend meal and snack times under the high chairs, but the don't eat the fruit. So I think what is happening is that they're stepping on the fruit and it gets stuck to the floor and I can't sweep it up. Then I have to get down on the ground with a scraper and scrape it all up before I can mop. That's probably the worst of it. I also have a dog that sheds, which gets pretty annoying. So this, plus sand and dirt from the kids outside, food...it's just all so much. I'm trying desperately to keep up, and I was doing well...but now I'm sick. And my husband doesn't help much - he's been really over-worked at work lately. When I can afford it, I think I'm going to get a weekly cleaning lady lol I'm just so tired these days.
