    Looking for volunteer

I'm looking for a volunteer to help me for three days next week. I'd prefer someone of school age, but any age will do. I have five kids, and I need help from 11-2. (Help through outdoor play, lunch and naps). If you or anyone you know is looking to gain some experience, this is the place to be. I am in Ottawa, in the Nepean Area. Please send me a private message with your phone number, name, and previous experience. Thanks!

By volunteer I assuming you mean not paid. There are many ads on kijiji for high school age students still looking for summer jobs and I'm sure there is someone that would be willing to work for you.

Remember that what you pay a helper is deductable. Still unsure about the employer-employee rules for something like this as I always just had my own kids helping out and still use my daughter as needed.

Earlier this year, I had a grade 9 student (a daughter of a friend of mine) come to my house from 9-11am to help with the kids snacks, walks, and lunch prep.
She was able to use it towards her high school volunteer hours (Mandatory in Ontario).
I simply filled out her sheet and how many hours she helped out for. Its a win win for us, so why not?
You could always advertise on Kijiji directing your ad towards highschool students looking to complete community service hours.

This is an awesome option and the first thing I had thought of myself when wanting some 'help' in the summer for field trips cause we had kids doing this in the daycare centres in the summers .... but my stepsons school would not allow this for counting towards his volunteer hours

His volunteer hours according to his board have to be for a 'non profit' organization not to mention a whack load of other restrictions ... really limits their options for sure!
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."

I have a friend who owns a dog grooming salon. She has had a coop student every semester since she opened her business. They come every morning! I realize that isn't the same as the volunteer hours the kids need, but she has had free help for 4 hours a day from September to June. Apparently, word has spread that it's a fun place to work, so she gets lots of applications.

I thought about this - but it's summer. I highly doubt any kids are looking to do their hours during the summer - but I did put an ad up on kijiji. Here's hoping!

I have a 13 year old girl who spends 8-12 with us on her PD days and 2X per month in the summer and I pay her $20 each time. She thinks it's lots of money and she is a great helper when we want to go to the splashpad or do lots of baking and crafting, etc. and it's wonderful to have the extra hands once in a while. I don't think young teenagers expect to be paid minimum wage because they consider it lots of fun. But of course, my little helper is very mature for her age and a family friend.
