Pool party etiquette

WOW! you would think it would be common sense to stay with your child at a pool party, if they cant swim!! I would def keep the party smaller, like 4 or 5 invites, and add to the invitation: If your child is not a good swimmer I would greatly appreciate a parent to attend the party with them. thank you

asking for a life jacket is also a good idea for a non experienced swimmer, bottom line though.....nobody wants "casualties" at a birthday party. If the kids not a good swimmer, their should be extra eyes on that child, it takes seconds to drowned.

Dont forget to make sure EVERYTHING else is set up ahead of time, food and such. Birthday parties are always frazzling for the parent throwing them, maybe have your suit on under clothes if your not swimming....ready to jump in if needed. can you tell, I AM extra protective?

. Yes, great idea, for sure...and I usually do. They are sooo stressful, for sure!!! Not to mention, everyone in our 6 person family are summer babies...sucks for the budget!

I'm over-protective and I SHOULD be! It's my child....my life!

We have a family cottage and everyone know's she is not to go near the lake or the dock/boats with out her life jacket on! She is 2.5 and when she passes the big tree she already knows and reminds (mostly grandma because grandma doesn't think my rules are important) for her life jacket! No way jose am I risking anything!

right there with you mama mia. I always remind my "oh, it's not a big deal!" kids grandparents, that YES! it is a big deal, God only gave me one of my child I dont get a replacement if something happens to them. Grandparents!!!!
