I charge $20/day, and that's max 2 hours (an hour in the morn, and an hour in the afternoon). If they would like either one or the other, I charge $15 (and that's for the hour).

If they're here in the morning, I don't serve breaky or a snack. If they're here in the afternoon, I give them a snack if their lunch bag is empty (otherwise they have to finish what's in their lunch).

Remember, you have to charge them a little more as you're having to get the rest of the kiddos ready for outside (especially during the winter). That takes the time and effort that parents don't realize.

Oh, and I don't usually take them for full days (ie PD Days, summers, etc), as I don't have the spaces. But if I did, I would charge between $40-45/day.

The ONLY time I have done before and after care was if there was a sibling here all day OR the before/after child didn't take up a spot for a potential all day child..i.e. all day kid leaves at 3:45 and the before/after child comes off the bus about 4 pm. (also...there is no travel for me) I wouldn't go out of my way by packing up all other children in care and traveling to the school just to pick up a child for a value of 15$. not worth it! for me.

I'm jealous of your schedule. It's a great example of work smarter not harder.

Nice ... being $20 a day for the b/a children certainly helps cause that is an extra $25 a week per child compared to the $10-15 normally charged for the service and in my neck.
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."

I'm in Hamilton as well and I charge 15 a day for before and after or just one or the other. If they are only here after, it's still 15, just before still 15. The local schools charge 19 for their before and after school program and they go until 6, I only work until 5:30. So, I'm kinda stuck on 15. I don't do anymore then 1 before and after though.
