I have a little guy here (14 months) who developed an awful diaper rash last week. It was bright red, all around his genital area, but not his bum, not bumpy at all, just red and irritated. After a couple days it started peeling and looked like it was getting better. Now it's all red again and he's got a few red bumps as well in that area. Once when I was changing him today, it was actually bleeding a little bit.

My own child never had a diaper rash, and I haven't had a daycare kid with one this bad either. His parents have tried a few different creams for it, but it doesn't seem to be going away. He's had this rash for at least a week. It's definitely making him cranky and uncomfortable.

Is this a 'normal' diaper rash? Should I be concerned? Should I ask them to have it checked by a doctor or anything?
