My "common sense" tells me that hitting other people, whether it be under the guise of discipline or not is wrong. I don't think violence should be a part of any family's tradition.

Sometimes, fixing things requires some deeper thought than, "just leave well enough alone". Sometimes, when you know better, you do better.
