Do you ever feel like a big ogre??

All day I feel like I've been telling kids to "stop climbing on that" "that's not a toy" " be gentle" "take turns" etc, etc. I tried taking them out for a walk so we'd all have a change of scenery but the youngest one screamed and cried the entire time. They were all bored and looking to get into mischief while I made lunch so I strapped them all in their seats and gave them books to look at which all went right onto the floor. I just feel like a big meanie today. Thank goodness for naptime - and these forums!

LOl, I've had my meanie days... "don't put that in your mouth.. .don't put that in your mouth... don't put that in your mouth" I'm just going to record key phrases and play them back on a loop one of these days and see if it makes a difference.

We all have those days and sometimes we have them a lot, but no you are not a meanie. I always say that it's me against the tiny monsters! If I don't keep order then the inmates will take over the asylum.

OMG Totaly what I felt like all day. I was going to post on it until I saw yours. I mean I've even raised my voice I don't know how many times. I've had a new 3.5 year old (having a difficult time at home ) today that was all bout defiance and how much she could get away with here. I usualy raise my voice only when we sing LOL but totay I had to use what I call my 'TEACHER' voice. You know when you talk calmly and clearly but still need for the one sitting at the back of the class to hear you

So exhausted today and I feel terrible, like I was such a meanie.

Totally know how you feel! I feel like my main words are 'no, don't, stop, timeout, get off, let go'. I was thinking the same thing 'man!, I am mean!' Good to know I'm not the only one.

Oh, how about when they just give you the "am I in trouble" look?
Makes me feel awful, like..."do I get after you guys that much?".

Kidlove- I have a little girl here who bursts into tears at the slightest reminder or suggestion. Makes me feel like she's afraid of me AND drives me nuts at the same time! lol

oh I here ya there, isn't it funny how all their sensitivity levels differ? I have had kids I literally have to raise my voice toward, to get through to, and others you just have to look at, and they cry. Those are the times I feel like a meany, BUT, if they give me that "scared" look, I just give them a big hug and tell them I love them.

I have a repeater. All day it's car, car, car, car, car, firetruck, firetruck, lunchtime, lunchtime, over and over and over and over until I think my head is going to pop off. So all I say all day every day is 'SAY IT ONE TIME'. So then of course he goes around saying 'say it one time, say it one time, say it one time.' Sometimes I'm just thinking, somebody kill me now!

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
