    Overtime fees for longer day

I have a strict 9-hour day within 7:00AM-5:00PM (parents can choose 7-4, 8-5, etc...). I have a family that may need to move to 7:15-4:30 and is willing to pay more than the regular $40 (for 9 hours). What would be a reasonable fee/price for 15 minutes more?

Also, I'm assuming we should do a new contract for the 9h15m day at a rate of $___ and if they pick up early (7:15-4:15) 1/2 of the time, I just keep charging the new rate?

You'd have to break down to an hourly charge IMO. or consider it IS "using your personal time" so charge something like 5$ a day, that sounds fair. I am US and charge an extra 2.75$ an hour over 9 hours, but that's also within daycare operation. (our state pay rate is aprox 2.75 hr) thats us cuurency.

I have a family like this. Anytime they go over the 9 hours (which is a couple times a week) they pay $5 a hour, regardless if its 15 mins or 45 mins.

    Hi guys !

Sorry to bring up an old subject but I am adding 'overtime' charges in my contract for families needing care over 9 hours/day. That is seperate from 'late pick up fees' and am wondering how you word it in your contract? If you do not mind sharing, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks

Yup terminology I use is ....

    Under Hours of Operation ...

'Extended hour care before or after program hours is available with PREARRANGEMENT with the provider at the time of signing the contract or on a temporary basis with at least 48 hours notice of the required over time. Please not this option is available only when the provider is not otherwise committed before or after business hours and at an additional charge'.
This gives me flexibility to do it or not depending on my circumstances cause I do not want to do it ALL the time necessarily but for the right client and to charge what I FEEL LIKE depending on the client asking for the service

    Under Late Pick-up Policy I have ...

I have a family of my own to care for after hours and children should be picked up prior to 4:30 p.m. Children still in attendance after this time will be charged $5.00 within the first 5 minutes and a $1.00/minute there after. Please note that this fee is per child not per family. Multiple children require multiple charges. A late form will be provided for parents to sign. Late fees are due ideally same day but no later than next scheduled payment date.
So if the client contracted extended care from the start OR prearranged a later pick up with me 48 hours ahead of time for a planned one time thing it would be at the one rate as I was prepared for it ... if they call are JUST LATE cause they did not plan their day properly than that policy is in effect and later in my policy it also states that repeated 'lateness' will result in termination of the contract cause I do not want people thinking they can just be late and pay the fee and that's all cool!

I have also made exceptions of the late day policy for those who call ahead with a TRUE emergency ... aka mom or dad in an accident / hospital or what not that they could not avoid and the emergency people cannot get there in time than I will do it for a negotiated price between the $1/minute and something more suitable to the emergency!
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."

I charge $5/half hour early fee if they arrive 1 minute before 7:30 when I open or a late fee of $5/half hour after 5pm when I close. I also charge $5/half hour if a 9 hour day is exceeded. If two things happen at once I charge both fees. You would be surprised how families can figure out that grandpa or grandma can do the pickup instead of paying all these fees. I really do NOT want to have anybody here for extra time. It's hard on me and it's really hard on the child to have such long days at daycare.

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
