    Playdough and fingerpaint recipes

Can anyone share their recipes for homemade playdough and fingerpaint? I have found quite a few different ones and I'd like to hear what works best for you! Thanks!

For quick fingerpainting I use maybe a cup of flour, then add a teaspoon of water at a time until it's the consistency you want and add some drops of food colour. Make 4-5 different colours. This kind of fingerpainting is great for the smaller babies and non toxic but use fingerpainting paper.

Equal parts shaving cream and glue and a few drops food colouring make puffy paint. But this takes days to dry and doesn't really stay that puffy. We made pictures for my Weather theme and used this for the clouds, then glue and clear beads for hail and little blue circles for rain and I made little snowflakes and a yellow felt sun so I could teach different kinds of weather.

Koolaid Playdo - the only kind I make beause it smells nice and it's so easy

Stir together: 3 cups flour, 1/2 cup salt & 2 packages koolaid
Add 2 cups boiling water & 3 tablespoons oil

Mix and knead until smooth and cooled

Will keep for 3-4 months in your fridge in an airtight container.

I make 2 or 3 colours and when they are so mixed up and getting old I let the children make a volcano (molded around a baby food jar) or a dinosaur footprint (handprint in a pancake of the playdo) or other creative statuette or ornament with a ribbon in the top for the parents. Bake them in the oven at a really low heat for an hour or so until they harden then they can be painted.

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
