Flu shot?
Just wondering how many of you get flu shots...I have never gotten it before, but I am seriously considering it this year because I am tired of getting sick! I am recovering from a flu I had over the weekend,..while transitioning in two new babies...ahhh! Now, my hesitation comes in because I am wondering if it even works...I mean I know it only protects you against some strains. Do any of you get teh flu shot? Do you feel that it helps?

I got the flu shot one year and didn't find that it helped at all. Honestly, the less crap you put in your body the better, in my mind. Like you said, it only protects against some strains. Kids get freakin' everything and therefore, so do we. Oh the joys Personally, I wouldn't bother unless there's a particularly horrible strain going through that they're vaccinating for.....memories of Norwalk.....yick. At least, in this line of work, our immune systems become pretty kick ass. I still get sick, but only a little sick for a short period, then it's gone.

I will be honest ~ I use to get this when i worked in centre care because well they had this way of making you feel it was 'mandatory' to have all your immunizations up to date in order to work even having someone come out to the centre to GIVE them so you had no excuse and well I was a bit naive and did not know my rights around immunization at the time and had not begun researching the 'effects' that immunizations can have I never found it made a lick of difference and in fact I use to get horrible flu every winter where I missed upward a week of work.
So yes I question the 'benefit' of the flu shot as I personally find from observation that since they started promoting these things to more and more 'demographics' so that basically rather than those just 'at risk' EVERYONE is getting these shots now and now the flus each year are WORSE ... SARS, H1N1 and so forth cause IMO they just keep mutating in order to survive in the presence of 'immunizations' which just makes the viruses stronger and stronger
I stopped injecting myself with anything .... no more flu shots, no more 'boosters' for immunizations and as far as communicable disease goes I have never been healthier ~ if I get a cold or flu come on it is minor and I recovery quickly .... I even got the dreaded 'H1N1' go through the daycare the first year it was 'big' and I was 'over it' in less than 2 days unlike those who had the flu shot who still got this strain and they were sick for WEEKS with it and not just 'sick' but hospitalized with it.
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."

Never had one before and can't see myself ever getting one. I rarely get sick and when I do it's over quickly

No flu shot here either. Agree that those that get it seemed to get sicker than those that didn't.

They didn't "seem", they actually did get sicker. There was an article on it not long ago. Hold on.............

Starting to feel at home...
I have only gotten it when I was a Nanny because it was required for the position and when I was doing my ECE placement, again it was a requirement. Both times I got sick where as other years when I didn't get the shot I did not get sick. I won't be getting it. Neither will my husband.
However, I am still contemplating whether or not I should give it to my daughter this year. She just turned 1. I don't plan on giving it to her after this year for sure but they say that children in the first few years of life are at greater risk for complications due to the flu.
Does anyone have any advice for me?

Only got them when I worked in childcare centers cause they were mandatory to get them. After I got the flu shot, I usually got another strand of a flu. It was horrid, so I stopped getting them, and seemed to be better without them.
