Things you don't want to hear during an interview

... grandma might be retiring soon
(meaning they are giving notice the moment she does)

What are some things you hate to hear during interviews?

    I rock him/her to sleep
He/she only drinks from a bottle

Best gift you can give your kids (and yourself!) is teaching them to fall asleep on their own as early as possible.

For me it was the parents who readily admitted that their child did not self feed ("too messy to clean up"), co-sleeps (which is fine in practice, but how the heck am I supposed to get them to self soothe here?) and the ones who have little to no routine (things are done at the child's whims). Here's my child, I've done little to prepare him/her for you...but 'plop' here they are for 9+ hours! Gee, thanks!
    Children are great imitators.
So give them something great to imitate.

Yes, a 10 step sleep routine, we'll play it by ear, has never been away from mom/dad. Yikes, what they create and then we have to undo. We must be saints.

Oh I get that about the sleeping all the time too, gcj. When I mention to them they will need to be trained better for sleep at daycare I often get a blank look or "oh it's tough..."

"He's 3 next month...he needs to be potty trained. Since he's here during the day, you'll be taking the helm with that right?".....Yeah. NO!

"We've always had a hard time getting him to nap."
"We want you to wake him up after (an hour, two hours) so he'll go to bed on time for us int he evening"
"What's your policy on late pick-ups? Do you really enforce the late fees?" (Why are you asking this...because you plan to be late?!)
Oh...and this one tops it all...it happened to me a few weeks back upon me asking where the child in question was (he's 2 1/2 years old)...they had brought older sister (10 years old) instead:
"We were worried he would cry so much that we wouldn't be able to talk to you...he's always been at home with grandma and cries when we take him places" !!!! Ummm...you can guess why I turned them away
