Another lesson to learn, it never ends! I don't have a time frame in my contract and never thought about it before. When I call a parent to come get a sick child either Mom or Dad or gramps or gram has been here every time within the hour. That's what I expect and I would be LIVID if I were you and sending a warning letter to my client tomorrow that if it ever happens again you expect somebody there IMMEDIATELY. That poor little child. That's just all kinds of wrong and makes me angry.

Which is fine for the leaving the office part. Not fine if they work a 40 minute or more bus ride from home which translates into over an hour bus ride now that express buses are no longer working. Where I live many people commute to work by bus. I have also had children in care (teacher) who drove with the child 30 minutes to come to me because she taught at the school a few blocks from my house and wanted to be able to get to her child right away.

Yes playfelt anyone traveling by bus would be held hostage by their schedule. I am not on a bus route so all my families drive and fortunately my teacher parent only works 10 mins from here.

Technically NONE of this would have been an issue had the parent used their head and simply kept their child home at the first sign of illness. That is one of my biggest pet peeves.

I have a rule that if they keep their child home at first sign, they can return after being symptom free for 24 hours. If they send them to daycare anyways like this parent did and I have to call to send them home, they cannot return until 48 hours after they are symptom free.

Makes parents really think twice and assess their child's condition before dropping them off and exposing the other kids to whatever they may be coming down with.

I think it works so well that I can honestly say I haven't had to call a parent at work and sent a DCK home in over a year. I have had VERY few illnesses passed around and have a really great year in that regard.
