IMO this is good advice for any day, but specially a day when you are under the weather, there is nothing wrong with having a 'quiet day' and letting the focus be learning through free play

If you feel the 'need' to have them do all the bells and whistles than make them be open ended things ... toss out a big piece of paper and some drawing mediums and let them work together to create a collage instead of having to do a 'craft' where you are having to support them with messy stuff and so forth.

When I am under the weather I often do water play ... cause while it is messy they will play there for a could hour if not more so it is an investment in having some time to just sit back and chill while they are engaged and than when they are done ~ I pick up the sheets and towels I had placed down to 'mop up the wet' and toss them in the laundry and well my floor is now 'clean' and the sheets and towels are getting cleaned too
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."
