I chatted with the mother this afternoon. I told her what my aprehensions were. Only 2 really. One was the mouthing of toys which could be a major problem that I can try my best to deal with by pulling toys out of the room for cleaning constantly(can you imagine?!?!) Number 2 was the outside foods. I can explain to parents the risks to the other child but it doesnt mean they will follow my rules. Without this guarantee I couldn't assure the childs true safety and that isn't fair to the mother leaving her child in my care or the child herself.

We had a really good chit chat and I said that perhaps a nanny would be a good choice. Someone who will be one on one with her child who can completely control everything in their surroundings. They can still go out places and be social with other kids, but the nanny would be able to focus solely on her and meet her needs exactly. Mum said this was a good idea and something she had spoken about with her husband. She completely understood when I said that I didn't think this would be a good fit. I personally have no issue with the care I can provide to a child with severe allergies but there are so many things I couldn't control fully so I had to step back.

Super nice lady and I feel so happy that I made this decision. She finished off the conversation by saying I'm sure you will have no problem filling the spot as you have such a great name for yourself...well I didn't expect to hear that so I called her bluff and asked her where she had heard my name from and she said there was a lady on her road who had been refered to me by someone else singing my praises but couldn't get a spot. Apparantly I am the talk of the town but in a great way.

If nothing else to hear that praise made my day
