You do need to make sure this Mom has solid plans to keep the new one with you as well, not to mention, ask about what her plans are for maternity, that can be a long wait with little pay. If I were you I would also have this convo face to face so you can look at her when she responds, you can tell a lot better if someone is lying to you when they are face to face with you. If she is farther along than you might expect, it could be because she doesn't plan to keep the kids with you. Just protect yourself and your income first and foremost. Something similar happened to me about 6 months ago, I didnt find out the Mom was pregnant until the 3 year old told me one day out of the blue (first sign) then when I asked her about it she couldn't look me in the eye (second sign) and then after asking her about a handful of times what her plans were, she finally told me, she was planning to send the baby to a dif daycare (even though I had room) (third sign) but she wanted to keep her daughter with me (fourth sign)...why would you want to separate both your kids IF you didnt have to? hmmm, I stuck it out with her because until then, she was a great client and always raved of my quality of care and how much her daughter loved me...STUPID. Then when the baby was born...she dropped me like a ton of bricks and I was high and dry, no income, no time to advertise. Don't make the same mistake as me...if ANYTHING seems fishy or odd, find a replacement, dont wait around.
